In June 1967, 150 young men from Minnesota stepped onto the field at a Twins baseball game—not as players, but as new Marine Corps recruits. Sworn in on live television, the “Twins Platoon” was cheered by thousands before being rushed to the airport and fl own to San Diego for basic training. By year’s end, they were deep in the heart of Vietnam, scattered across some of the fi ercest ba􀆩 legrounds of the war—from Khe Sanh to Hue City—as the TET Off ensive erupted. Some never returned. Others came back forever changed.
