This was a lovely book.
The setting and the events were vividly described. Even with many hardships in Mary's life, she succeeds in supporting her husband.

I loved the writing and the story itself.
Mary has to marry Fred in order to have support for her and her children and I loved how their love grows. A true marriage is full of ups and downs and the book certainly captures it.

That time was much different from what we know now.
I'm not very familiar will all the historical facts and usually, I don't read many historical books. But this book was very interesting for me, I got to learn something new and enjoy a love story in the meantime.

How much different it was back in those days...
Mary really had luck Fred decided to give her a hand. The start of their life together really intrigued me but how it progressed kept me glued to the pages.

The book is mixed with facts and fiction and it really can keep you late at night. I read it pretty quickly and I enjoyed every page of it. A lot of things changed for Mary but at the end of the day, she got herself a good husband and friends, a great "career" (as support for her husband), and good life for her and her kids.

I recommend
The author captured the family life as it is - real, not perfect. I liked that in this book. It's a bit dramatic, it's a bit overwhelming and it is a bit inspiring. I recommend.

Landscape of a Marriage: Central Park Was Only the Beginning by Gail Ward Olmsted starts with Mary becoming a widow but it progresses into a wonderful life for her. Well, not exactly wonderful - she had her sorrows and downs, but she also had great times with Fred. I liked it and I'm rating it 5 out of 5 stars.

Great read!
The book is an easy read. I loved how the author managed to squeeze so much time in so few pages and yet everything to make sense and to feel finished.
